  Great to see heaps of people from all nationalities leaving and arriving for the services on a Sunday morning in Barcelona. We attended the midday service and were given a warm welcome and a fresh coffee on arrival. The service started with music led by the band and sadly this seemed to be more of a performance than an opportunity for collective worship. Few people seemed to know the first couple of songs, which were loud, somewhat vacuous and highly repetitive with lights dimmed and all glory on the band rather than on God. We eventually sang a more well-known Hillsong number with some good words and the congregation at last seemed to join in with enthusiasm. The ministry of the word was from James 2 and the preacher a lady (Brandy) tackled the passage with great vigour, hardly pausing for breath for about 20 minutes. It was exhausting even to listen but some good, thought-provoking stuff from the passage and a clear Gospel challenge at the end. The Church clearly respects the authority of Scripture and the power of the Word and Spirit except when it comes to 1 Timothy 2:11, where they clearly have their own interpretation of the role of women in the Church. So, mixed feelings about this Church, which has an encouraging number of families and young people from many nationalities but is perhaps in danger of compromising too much with worldly contemporary culture. I pray they will continue to be a blessing and a bright light in the city of Barcelona.

  We wanted a place to worship while on vacation. This fit the bill. Great music and felt the presence of God. Message was from the Beatitudes, which is always thought provoking. Very encouraged to see so many nationalities and ages worshipping in one place.
